Ford's Latest Project... Pizza Delivery?

Ford has spent over a century advancing the auto industry. Ever since the auto assembly line and the Model T, Ford has been a pioneering force; we're used to Ford revolutionizing cars. Ford has decided to go one step further, though. Not content with pushing the auto envelope, they set their sights on the next logical step: revolutionizing pizza.

There is a lot of talk about what driverless cars might entail. Ford has been working on the serious questions, though: can a driverless car deliver a pizza? Our stomachs hope so, and Domino's and Ford are teaming up to find out.

Up to four pizzas and five sides are kept in a pizza storage system. Once your order arrives, you walk out to the car, punch in your code, and the slot containing your pizza opens. Sadly, due to current driverless car laws, there is still someone in the car. The car does drive itself, but there is still a human in the driver's seat, as an added safety precaution. These tests are still valuable, though. It lets both companies test out driverless technology, and most importantly, it shows how customers will react to a truly driverless system in the future.

Ford has innovated the auto industry. Ford has innovated the pizza industry. We can't wait to see what's next.
